Fences are allowed at the property line up to a maximum height of eight feet without regard to the applicable zoning setback. A building permit is required for any fence over six feet. Other more or less grade level structures such as driveways, walkways, uncovered steps, ramps, underground storage tanks, septic tanks and systems are also allowed within the minimum required zoning setbacks. Above grade structures such as the principal dwelling unit, any accessory building or structure (such as garages, studios, workshops, etc.), decks, storage sheds, mechanical equipment, swimming pools, etc. must comply with the minimum required zoning setbacks.
