Statement from Town Manager John Mangiaratti Regarding the January 7th Acton-Boxborough School Committee Meeting
“I am aware of and deeply concerned by what occurred last night, in which individuals, for a second time in less than a month, interfered with a School Committee meeting and levied racist attacks against two members of the board.
“This behavior is entirely unacceptable and unwelcome in Acton. There should be zero tolerance for racially motivated -- and inherently personal -- attacks on members of our community like the ones that have now targeted Kyra Wilson-Cook and Evelyn Abayaah-Issah on multiple occasions. I stand with them, as well as the Board of Selectmen, the Acton-Boxborough School Committee and Superintendent Peter Light in denouncing these attacks.
“Acton Police have made substantive progress as they conduct a full and thorough investigation into both of these incidents, and Chief Richard Burrows will provide an update on that investigation when it is appropriate to do so.”
“The Acton Board of Selectmen is holding an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss and respond to this incident.”
