January 26, 2022 Updates to the Board of Health Face Covering Order in Acton 


The provisions of the Emergency Order of the Acton Board of Health as of January 26, 2022, requiring Face Coverings in Indoor Public Places are hereby adopted by the Town of Acton.

  • All individuals, including the public and employees entering any public business premises, including but not limited to grocery stores, pharmacies, houses of worship, fitness centers, all personal care services (examples: salon, barbershop, nail care, etc), home improvement or retail stores and the like must cover their mouth and nose with a mask or cloth face covering, unless exempted by MDPH guidance https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-mask-requirements
  • All individuals, including the public and employees entering a restaurant or food establishment premises for purposes of picking up food for takeout must cover their mouth and nose with a mask or cloth face covering, or if dining in, once seated, the mask can be removed while eating and drinking only, unless exempted by MDPH guidance https://www.mass.gov/info- details/covid-19-mask-requirements
  • All individuals, including the public and employees entering an indoor municipal property or building, including but not limited to the Acton Public Safety Facility, Acton Town Hall, Acton Memorial and Citizens Library and Acton Fire Stations, must cover their mouth and nose with a mask or cloth face covering, unless exempted MDPH guidance https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-mask-requirements
  • All entry doors of businesses open to the public must post a sign advising all individuals that face coverings must be worn inside the establishment.  The sign must be 8 ½ X 11 inches or not less than 5 X 8 inches and the words shall be large enough to be read at a distance of six feet.
  • In addition to the above and in accordance with the mask mandate regulated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, masks will also remain mandatory for all individuals on public and private transportation systems (including rideshares, livery, taxi, ferries, MBTA, Commuter Rail and transportation stations), in healthcare facilities and in other settings hosting vulnerable populations, such as congregate care settings, unless exempted MDPH guidance https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-mask-requirements
