The Board of Selectmen actively encourages Acton residents to participate in local government by volunteering to serve on a board or committee. Through service to the community, board and committee members have a unique opportunity to learn about the workings of our Town and to support fellow members of our community. The Board of Selectmen recognizes that serving on a board or committee takes dedication and commitment and highly values your volunteer service.
There are many different types of committees that work hard to handle issues and make the town a better place. Some types of committees are Statutory Boards and Committees and Advisory Boards and Committees. Both types have important influence on how the town functions.
Members of most of the Town boards and committees are appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The Town Manager and Town Moderator also appoint members to boards. To apply, please fill out the Acton Volunteer Application and deliver it to the Town Manager's Office located at Town Hall, 472 Main St.
